Brain Health Medical Scholarship
The Nemec Abbott Foundation is dedicated to improving mental health by providing individuals in our community access to medical care typically not covered by insurance and at times cost prohibitive. To further this mission, we have established a medical scholarship fund specifically for residents of the Pee Dee (Chesterfield, Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Marion, Marlboro counties) who are struggling with mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, OCD, early-onset Alzheimer’s, ADD, ADHD, suicidal ideation, autism, concussions, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and more.
Transforming The Way Mental Health Is Treated
We have partnered with Amen Clinics to provide cutting-edge brain health assessments and treatments to those in need. Amen Clinics brain-based approach goes beyond traditional psychiatry to give patients the answers they are looking for and ultimately and the results they deserve.
OUR GOAL
Our foundation is providing 50 scholarship recipients with comprehensive brain health evaluations and treatment plans. Each scholarship is valued at approximately $5,000 per individual, covering assessments, brain scans, expert diagnosis, and follow-up care.
ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship supports individuals ages 8 to 80 who face mental health difficulties, offering them the opportunity to receive a comprehensive brain health evaluation at either our Atlanta, GA, or Reston, VA clinics. Our goal is to help recipients gain clarity on their struggles and receive an accurate diagnosis with a personalized treatment plan.
WHAT THE SCHOLARSHIP COVERS
Comprehensive Evaluation: An integrative approach that assesses biological, psychological, social, and spiritual factors influencing well-being.
Brain SPECT Scan: Unlike traditional psychiatry, which rarely examines the organ it treats, we use brain SPECT imaging to provide objective data for a more accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment.
Diagnosis & Treatment Plan: A customized plan tailored to the individual’s specific needs.
Follow-Up Visits: Ongoing support to track progress and adjust treatment, as necessary. We equip recipients with the tools needed for a better brain and a better life—now and in the future.
WHAT THE SCHOLARSHIP Does not COVER
Recipients are responsible for covering their own travel related expenses, including:
- Transportation (e.g., flights, gas, rental cars).
- Lodging, if an overnight stay is required.
- Meals and personal expenses during the visit.

By removing financial barriers to high-quality brain health care, this scholarship empowers individuals to take control of their mental well-being. Through specialized assessments and expert guidance, recipients will gain the knowledge and resources necessary to improve their brain health and overall quality of life.
